Never give honey to babies under 12 months — the botulism risk is real regardless of freshness.
Store it right
- Sealed jar in a cupboard.
- Warm a crystallised jar in warm water to loosen it.
Signs it has gone off
- Fermented, boozy smell (rare, from added moisture).
- Foaming on top.
- Crystallising is normal, not spoilage.
Never taste food to test it — a small bite is enough to make you ill.
