Worth knowing
White 'blush' on baby carrots is just dryness, not mould. A soak in water brings them back.
Store it right
- Cut off the leafy tops — they pull moisture out.
- Store in a bag or in water in the crisper drawer.
Signs it has gone off
- Slimy black film.
- Deep soft spots (bendy but firm is fine).
- White mould at the crown.
Never taste food to test it — a small bite is enough to make you ill.
