Dairy & Eggs
Eggs (in shell)
Fridge (4°C / 40°F)
3–5 weeks
Freezer (−18°C / 0°F)
Not in shell — freeze beaten, 12 months
Store it right
- Keep in the carton on a shelf, not the door, so they hold a steady temperature.
- Don't wash eggs before storing; it strips the protective bloom.
Signs it has gone off
- Float test: an egg that floats upright in water is old — but confirm by smell.
- Any sulfur smell when cracked, at all.
- Pink, iridescent, or green whites.
Never taste food to test it — a small bite is enough to make you ill.
